We have listed the main A & R contacts for Music artists to send their 'Press Kit' to. Once you have a completed demo this is where either you or your manager need to send your press kit and demo to if you want to land that big record deal.
These people get many demo's sent to them per week, so your 'press kit' & demo must cut through & stand out. Here are some tips on getting your music demo in the hands of & record company exec.
1. Packaging & Delivery - It is always best to hand deliver or courier your package, this way you have a good chance of being able to direct your information to the right person.
2. Phone in advance of sending your package to find out the exact person that the package needs to go to, this way you increase your chances of being heard.
3. Include a DVD of one of your live shows, this way they will have a good concept of who you are.
4. Only include your 3 best songs
5. Include individual photo's with your bio, a bands 'look' can be just as important as it's music in the vein world of commercialism
6. Only use bullet points on a 1 page bio, the least amount of text that someone needs to read to find out all about you is the best for this type of document.
7. Call to action - this is very common in advertising, but can often be forgotten when selling ones self. I would suggest booking a gig in the city that your record label targets are in (ie sydney) and send an RSVP invite to your VIP show. By doing this calls the A&R manager to act they know if they go to xx venue they can see you play. (especially helpful if you are not in their state)
